Welcome from the Artistic Director
Honing the skill of transference as a performer and being able to
experience vulnerability as a choreographer are two challenges that continually motivate
my work in my formative years as a dance artist. Yet, what intrigues me most are the
relationships I am able to forge through my work. While navigating my course in the world
of dance, I have come across many young female performers that I admire and whom I would
like to collaborate or perform with. This desire prompted me to create INSPIRIT, a
performance ensemble that combines the time and talents of female artists in Washington
DC, New York, and North Carolina. These collaborations have been extremely
fulfilling and it is my sincere hope that our network continues to grow and encompass
other emerging artists in the field.
Throughout my career I have been blessed with the opportunity to
work for and learn from several scholars in the field of dance and share my lessons with
students all over the United States and Russia. These events have allowed me to embrace my
responsibilities as an artist. Those of which I believe are educating young dancers,
sharing the art of dance with the public, and making pieces that stimulate the artistic
minds of their viewers.
Whether performing, teaching, or choreographing new work, my goal of
growing as an artist puts me in a position to learn from everything I do. By keeping in
mind my goal of becoming a better artist and making a substantial contribution to the
field of dance, I will always think of myself as a humble beginner. For in the
beginners mind there are many possibilities; while in the experts, there are few.
In
the Spirit,
